To begin healing, we first have to look at our childhood from our adult perspective and come to terms with what it really was: psychological abuse, sexual abuse, physical abuse, and perhaps neglect. Did you grow up in an environment that provided safety, love, security, acceptance, and belonging? As children, we often saw our parents as perfect and anything that went wrong was our fault. As adults, we have to look back and think about what really happened during our childhood. This is where the ACE score comes into play. It requires us to examine the truth of what we survived, and it is a starting point for us to begin our healing. It takes courage to uncover the truth of our pain. Welcome Warriors!
